Superior Down Jacket
The Montbell Superior Down Jacket is one of Montbell’s iconic products. With a total weight of only 208g, there’s 55 grams of 800fp down in the men’s medium which is enough to keep you warm on a cold night in the city or relax at camp in the Wattagan Mountains. Alpine Light Down Parka/Jacket
We stock the Montbell Alpine Light Down in the parka option (with a hood) or the jacket option (with no hood). Optimized slightly more towards warmth the Alpine Light Down Jacket contains 120g of 800fp down. It also adds some comfort orientated features such as fleece lined pockets and a fleece lined collar. With a total weight of only 349g this jacket is a great entry level for lightweight hiking in alpine conditions or if you just want the extra warmth and luxury for casual wear.
Frost Line Parka
The Montbell Frost Line Parka really turns up the heat with 200g of 800FP down in the mens medium. Cold spots are eliminated with box baffle construction resulting in a garment suitable for frigid, alpine conditions or the sightseeing deck of an Antarctic cruise ship. The Frost Line Parka is also a beautiful casual winter jacket with a luxurious feel. Wear it with Timberlands and jeans for a classic New York look.
Ultralight/Plasma Series
The Plasma series from Montbell uses ultra premium 1000FP down and specially developed lightweight fabrics to produce some of the lightest jackets with the best warmth to weight ratios on the market. These are the legendary products featured by ultralight through-hikers on Youtube. If you are counting every gram then this is the range for you.
Plasma 1000 Down Jacket
At less than half the weight of its closest competitors, this gossamer mid layer weighs in at a feather light 135g. Containing 45g of 1000FP down this jacket is designed to replace bulky fleeces in the quest to reduce your overall packweight. Ex Light Down Anorak
The Montbell Ex Light Down Anorak delivers 85g of 900FP down for a total weight of 215g for a truly ultralight, versatile down sweater. The ¾ zip allows for a kangaroo hand pocket on the front of the jacket which is fully insulated for comfort.
Plasma 1000 Alpine Down Parka
The Montbell Plasma 1000 Alpine Down Parka brings Alpine level warmth down to an ultra light weight. Even the baffle pattern is especially designed to minimize weight. 40% of the weight of this garment is the ultra premium 1000FP down with a down to feather ratio of 95/5 while the 7d Ballistic Airlight Ripstop Nylon fabric is carefully chosen for its exceptional strength to weight ratio. With a total weight of only 237g this incredible jacket has a warmth to weight ratio like no other.
Gore-Tex Infinium Series
With Gore-Tex Infinium construction these jackets make for excellent casual wear but add the convenience of a waterproof outer fabric without a huge weight penalty. Slightly heavier fabrics do move them out of the ultra light category but in Australia we don’t have the dry cold that Northern hemisphere locations have and we need to take precautions to protect our down garments from getting wet.
Permafrost Light Down Parka
The Montbell Permafrost Light Down Parka is a brilliant value jacket for cold, wet conditions. With 120g of 800FP down and weighing in at 448g it’s at home as a belay parka or just brilliant for casual wear in the city. The 30d outer shell is sturdy and tough and it’s waterproof enough for long exposure in heavy rain. If you live in the city, this is the only warm jacket you’ll need and it still packs away conveniently while you’re inside.
Ignis Parka
The Montbell Ignis Parka took away the Backpacker Magazine Editors Choice Award in 2019 and now it’s here in a new range of colours for 2021.
